Encyclopedia : B : BE : BEL : Belmont station
Belmont Station is an abandoned rail station in the London Borough of Harrow. The station was on the former branch line from Harrow & Wealdstone which terminated at Stanmore Village.
The station was opened by the London Midland & Scottish Railway, probably in 1890. It was sited on the north side of Kenton Lane to the west of Belmont Circle. There was originally a single platform and the station was designated as a halt. The station was rebuilt with an island platform and a passing loop, opening on 12th September 1932.
After being deemed unprofitable and unnecessary as part of the Beeching Axe, the station was closed on 5th October 1964.
