Bempton

Bempton is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is near the coast and Flamborough Head, and about four miles north of Bridlington. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 1,050. It is served by Bempton railway station.

The parish of Bempton also contains Buckton village, which is situated directly next to Bempton.

The village is well known for its cliffs. RSPB Bempton Cliffs is a nature reserve, best known for its breeding seabirds, including Northern Gannet, Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, Kittiwake and Fulmar.

Bempton has a post office and general store, a garage, a public house (The White Horse), a hairdressers and an antique shop.

Bronze Age pit dwellings have been discovered near Bempton.
