Encyclopedia : B : BI : BIL : Bill Batstone

Bill Batstone is an American guitarist and bassist.

In the early 1970s, Batstone was part of the band Rebirth, with David Diggs, and Percussionist Alex MacDougall. In the mid 1970s, Baststone would go on to play in another band with Diggs called Good News. That band also included Yvonne Lewis, Erick Nelson, and Bob Carlisle. Keith Green also performed with the band in later years. The band, which, at least in part, got it's name from a song by Beau MacDougall (brother of Alex MacDougall), was signed to Maranatha! Music and released two albums with the label.

Since the Maranatha! days, Batstone has went on to play guitar and bass for artists like The Choir, Randy Stonehill and Mark Heard, among others.

Discography

Bill Batstone is also a composer of many Christian praise and worship songs. Many of his works and collaborations were featured in the early Promise Keepers song catalog. Among his titles: Rise Up O Men of God, Let the Walls Fall Down, I Waited, Face to Face, A Man of the Spirit-a Man of the Word, With All of My Heart, The Lion and the Lamb.

Bill currently (Summer 2006) is touring and performing with John Batdorf (of Batdorf and Rodney - an early 70's California Acoustic Rock Duo). Bill and John go back about 25 years. Bill performs some of his worshipful music during sessions and is clearly enjoying performing with John. John's songs have always had a wonderful and sensitive edge to them.
