- The nickname of former Balmain and Australia rugby league prop Steve Roach
- Slang for a defensive-minded batsman in cricket
- In optics, the inverse of a filter. Instead of blocking everything like a filter does, it lets everything else pass and blocks only the things specified.
- Technology which blocks telecommunications[link].
