Rei Ayanami is one of the most well-known anime characters with blue hair.

Blue hair is one of the most common characters' hair colors in anime. As a rule, characters in anime can have hair of any color (most commonly blue, but also pink, purple, green or one of the more "normal" colors), but nobody considers it unusual.

Although it is not compulsory, characters with blue hair often have personalities that are kind, reserved, shy and sometimes intellectual.

Naturally blue hair is sometimes found in Western comics and animation - eg. Marge Simpson and Milhouse Van Houten from The Simpsons and Jill Bioskop from Enki Bilal's La Femme piège.
