Blythe Bridge
Encyclopedia : B : BL : BLY : Blythe Bridge
Blythe Bridge is a village situated in the south-eastern suburbs of the city of Stoke-on-Trent. It has a high school, college and library, as well as four public houses: The Black Cock, The White Cock, The Duke of Wellington and The Wheatsheaf. The village also has a bakery, post-office, a few hairdressers, and some fast-food outlets.
Blythe Bridge is so called as it is built around the site of a bridge over the River Blithe (spelt differently to the name of the village itself): a small river which passes directly through the village.
Also passing through the village are a railway line and the Uttoxeter Road, a former major motorway link route (M1 > M6) that was relieved by the A50 dual-carriageway.
