Bob, Son of Battle is a children's classic written by English author Alfred Ollivant. It was published in 1874, and went on to become a popular children's book both in the United Kingdom and the United States.
The plot
The book is set in the English county of Cumbria and uses the Cumbrian tongue extensively for dialogues.The story focuses on the sheepdog Bob, suspected of being a sheep-killer, who is finally cleared of charges, and goes on to win the sheepdog competition three times, a historic feat. The story also has a parallel love interest.
