Boban Marković is a Serbian trumpet player and folk ensemble leader, frequently recognized as the greatest trumpet player to emerge from the Balkans. He and his brass band received world acclaim and won numerous awards.

Boban Markovic Orchestra is the leading brass band in Serbia over the last 17 years. They are from Vladicin Han, Southern Serbia, what is obviously heard in their music. They won several most important prizes ("Golden Trumpet", "First Trumpet" and "The Best Orchestra") at the "Brass bands meeting and competition" in Guca, called "Dragacevski Sabor", which helds each August in Central Serbia, since 1961. "Sabor" gathers each year 20 best bands from all parts of Serbia as well as some 300.000 people in the audience. Winning there means more job for the bands, but also is so prestigious, that no one is missing the festival and all the bands are coming for free.

Boban won “The First Trumpet”, the main prize in 2001 and since then decided to stop competing. Boban Markovic Orkestar won the "Best Orchestra" prize at 40th "Sabor" in Guca, August 2000. They won the "Best concert 2000." prize for their concert with Lajko Felix. In Guca, at “Dragacevski Sabor 2001” Boban Markovic won “The First Trumpet”, what is officially the best prize there and the most wanted among the musicians. It was the first time ever that any musician there got all five marks “10” from all of the jury members. Since 2002. full time band member is Marko Markovic, son of the band leader, extremely talented young kid, who is practising 10 hours a day. Over two years touring with the band 17 years old Marko became the main soloist and arranger of the band. Both Boban and Marko are featuring in the movie “Usti Opre” with other famous Gypsy musicians, a documentary to be premiered at the festival in August 2005.

They released 7 CDs so far:

Boban Markovic Brass Band has also song on "Unblocked" ("Music from the Eastern Europe") compilation on Elipsis Arts in USA. The orkestar is featuring on two tracks on "Srbija: Sounds Global" seria of compilations released in 2000. by Radio B92 and on opening track on “Srbija: Sounds Global 2” released November 2002 by B92.

They performed music at two movies of Emir Kusturica: "Arizona Dream" and "Underground" as well as in few other movies in Yugoslavia. They are the main characters at award winning documentary film "Competition".

They have played festivals and concerts in Greece, Switzerland, Belgium, USA, Canada, Romania, Holland, Hungary, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Poland, Italy, Austria, Monaco, Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Israel, Spain, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Czech Republic and many wedding parties everywhere.

At Pepsi Sziget they've played at "World Music stage" at front of 15.000 crowd. At the same time on the main stage there should start the concert of British group Oasis. But, as all of the audience was at concert of Boban Markovic orkestar, Oasis waited 30 minutes till Boban's band has finished. At the same time Network Records, released the double CD “Golden Brass Summit” – Anthology of 40 years in Guca, where Boban Markovic Orkestar opens the album with 4 tracks.

The regular brass band sound is improved with another 2 percussionists. From October 99. they are also performing with young violin player Lajko Felix a programme arranged by Lajko Felix and Boban Markovic. Lately, the band have opened more collaborations. One with Austrian duet Attwenger and the other with Frank London's Klezmer Brass All Stars Di Shikere Kapelye. They form together BROTHERHOOD OF BRASS.

The band is so good at weddings, as well at the open-air concerts, but has the energy of the best rock band, but could play at the musical academies and classical venues. Their repertoire includes Gypsy groove, chocheks and other dances, as well as tunes from movies of Emir Kusturica, but also new material, specially composed for the band which nobody else is playing in Serbia.
