Bojnurd is the capital city of North Khorasan province, Iran. It is about 701 km from Tehran. It had an estimated population of 181,648 in 2005.[link] It is also spelled Bojnūrd, Bujnūrd, or Bujnurd. [link]

Bojnurd is located in the plains and enjoys a mild, mountainous weather. This city was originally called "Bijan Gerd", with gerd meaning city and bojnurd meaning Bijans city. Majority of the inhabitants in Bojnourd are ethnic Kurds, speaking in the Kurmanji dialect of Kurdish language.

The ancient city was situated on a hill northwest of the present city of Bojnurd, known as Sareban Mahaleh.

Maneh is a small sector in the northwest of Bojnurd city. The most important village is Shirindarre which is a tourist area and in which rice is produced.
