Bond University was the first private university in Australia. The campus is located at Robina on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
History
Bond University was founded in 1987 by Alan Bond and given its University status by the State of Queensland's Bond University Act 1988. The original joint venture partners, Bond Corp and EIE (International), oversaw the purchase of the land, building of the sandstone clad buildings, and the development of the grounds. Teaching on the campus began in May 1989.
Campus
The campus is located at Robina on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It currently has four faculties - Law, Business & IT, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Health & Medical Sciences. The predominant structure of the campus is a large sandstone arch which functions as an executive office building, bridging the gap between the Humanities and IT Faculties.
Bond University is small by Australian standards, with around 2700 students, including many international students. The current student/faculty ratio is 1:10, the lowest in Australia, and one of the lowest globally. The university operates for three semesters each year, with entry available in January, May and September. This systems allows for a 6 semester degree to be completed in 2 years; and an 8 semester degree (such as Law) to be completed in 2 years 8 months.
Professor Robert Stable commenced as the Vice-Chancellor and President of Bond University on January 1, 2004. Philip Lader is a past Vice Chancellor who served in the role just prior to serving as White House Deputy Chief of Staff to U.S. President Bill Clinton, commencing on January 20, 1993.
Bond University encompasses 5 student residences: the Halls of Residences (A and B Blocks), the University Conference Centre, North Tower, South Tower, and Varsity Towers. Weekly student accommodation rates range from $115 a week (Halls of Residences, no air-conditioning), $220 (Varsity Towers, air-conditioned, Bond lake view apartment). Along with accommodation charges, on-campus students are required to purchase a weekly meal plan. Options of 10-, 14-, or 19-meals per week cost $124.50, $160 and $200 per week respectively. No meal plan is required for living on Varsity Towers.

Film School
Bond offer's Undergraduate (2yrs, Bachelor of Film & Television) and Postgraduate (Master of Film & Television) degree programs. Various equipment is available, however students must pay extra cost's outside of tuition to support their film(s). $1,000 AUD (reduced from $1,500 from 2005) is provided in the final production class.Fees
