Boris Gelfand

Boris Gelfand (born 24 June 1968) is a chess grandmaster. Born in Minsk, Belarus, he currently lives in Israel. On the January 2006 FIDE list, he had an Elo rating of 2729, making him number ten in the world and Israel's number one.
In 1988 he tied for first in the World Junior Championship. The next year he earned the GM title. In 2004 Gelfand won the Pamplona, Navarra tournament, held from December 20 to December 29.
