Bowdon is an area in south-west Greater Manchester in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, United Kingdom. It was an urban district in Cheshire from 1894 to 1974. The ONS give a population figure of 6,079 for the area in the 2001 census. Bowdon like its neighbour Hale, has exceedingly high property prices and is a popular area with Manchester-based Premiership footballers [[Citing sources citation needed]].
Unusually for a district with a population under 7,000, Bowdon has three girls' secondary schools: Altrincham Girls Grammar School, Culcheth Hall and Loreto Grammar School.
