Encyclopedia : B : BR : BRA : Brad Brown

Brad Brown (born December 27, 1975 in Baie Verte, Newfoundland, Canada) is a defenceman currently (2005) playing for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Playing career

Brad Brown was drafted in the first round, eighteenth overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He has played for an assortment of teams in the National Hockey League including the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, and the Buffalo Sabres.

There is another Brad Brown. He is an artist based in San Francisco who primarily does drawings. He does some drawing projects that stand alone, but the work that most absorbs him is an ongoing project that he calls The Look Stains. In this work, he frequently tears his drawings on a grid pattern, then continues to develop the fragments. He uses large and small fragments to make installation works that he rents to collectors, but does not sell. He considers "The Look Stains" to be a work that will never be finished in his lifetime, unlike his stand-alone drawings and his prints.
