Braggin' Rights

Encyclopedia : B : BR : BRA : Braggin' Rights

Established in 1980, Braggin' Rights has been the annual college basketball contest between the Illinois Fighting Illini of the Big Ten Conference and the Big 12's Missouri Tigers. The game takes place in St. Louis, Missouri during the month of December. From 1980-93, it was played at the old St. Louis Arena, and since 1994, it has been played at Savvis Center. Perhaps, one of the most memorable games in this series, happened to be the final Braggin' Rights game ever held at the St. Louis Arena in December of 1993, as Missouri defeated Illinois in a game that took several overtimes. The game was not contested in 1982, but has been played every year since 1983. Through the 2005-06 season, Illinois holds a 16-9 edge over its Big 12 neighbors in the Braggin' Rights series.
