Braine-l'Alleud (Dutch:Eigenbrakel) is a suburban municipality located in the Belgian province of Walloon Brabant, about 20 kilometers south of Brussels. On January 1 2005 Braine-l'Alleud had a total population of 36,803. The total area is 52.12 km² which gives a population density of 706.18 inhabitants per km². The famous Lion of Waterloo is actually located on the territory of Braine-l'Alleud

It is twinned with Ouistreham Riva-Bella (France), Menden (Germany),Basingstoke (United Kingdom),Drummondville (Canada) & Slapanice (Czech Republic).
