A banking system in which there is a head office and interconnected branches providing financial services in different parts of the country.

Branches are being transformed from transaction processing centers into customer-centric, financial sales and service centers

This transformation is helping Banks to achieve bottom line business benefits like 1. Increased customer profitability 2. Retention of most profitable customers 3. Increased branch revenue 4. Increased staff productivity 5. Reduced operational costs

A typical Retail branch at a Bank provides two primary functions 1. Teller Operations - Accept and process customer transactions at the teller window 2. Sales and customer service Operations - Tasks, such as new account opening, account maintenance and product sales
