Braunton is situated 4 miles west of Barnstaple in north Devon, and is claimed to be the largest village in England (although Kidlington is several times bigger). It is home to the nearby Braunton Great Field, and Braunton Burrows, a nature reserve of world importance.
The village boasts a number of pubs which include "The Agricultral Inn" and "The Williams Arms". A local mens barbers called "Terrys Gentlemen's Hairdressers" charges only £1.75 for a haircut. There are also a number of churches of various demoninations, for example "St. Brannocks Church" serves the catholic population. The village holds a carnival each year near the end of May.
