Brett Somers (born Audrey Sommers on July 11, 1924, in New Brunswick, Canada) is a tall (5'10") actress, singer and comedian, who was a regular on the 1970s CBS game show Match Game, on which she was known for wearing big glasses, various wigs, and playing foil to Charles Nelson Reilly, Betty White, Richard Dawson, and Fannie Flagg. Later, Brett Somers played "Siress Belloby" on the Sci-Fi series Battlestar Galactica in 1978.
She was married to actor Jack Klugman from 1953 until 1974, having three children together: Adam, David, and daughter Leslie. She played the role of the divorced wife of Oscar Madison (who was played by Klugman) on the ABC sitcom television series The Odd Couple in the early 1970s.
When Match Game debuted in 1973, Somers was not originally on the celebrity panel. She would appear very soon, as her husband, Jack Klugman, who was a panelist, insisted that they give Somers a chance. Her wit and dry humor proved extremely successful, and she would remain a regular panelist for the remainder of the show's nine year run.
They split during the run of the series and there were reports that although they had separated, they had never officially divorced (largely because Klugman was quoted as saying that he refused to divorce Somers so he would never make the same mistake again), although it now appears that they did, in fact, divorce.
On an episode of CBS' The Early Show (2002), in what could be called a "mini Match Game reunion" with Nelson Reilly and White, Somers denied rumors that she was battling cancer, despite earlier reports to the contrary on the Internet. She would appear with Nelson Reilly later that year on The Hollywood Squares.
She became a U.S. citizen after many decades of living in the U.S., and resides in Connecticut.
