BRiX is a portable, open source operating system intended for use by anyone. It is not POSIX-compliant and is not based on Unix like many other free software operating systems are. BRiX is released under the Artistic License.
Technical features
- Minimalism.
- Easy-to-use, reconfigurable graphical interface as the primary user interface.
- A text-based interface to supplement the graphical interface.
- A "flat" filesystem that lacks the hierarchical structure of traditional filesystems, accessed and manipulated through the graphical user interface.
- Written in a compiled "safe-language" that doesn't rely on hardware to secure the system.
Status
No binary release of BRiX has been made and only the source code is available currently.BRiX development appears to be slow or inactive at this time, as the last news item was posted on September 6, 2004.
