Buchanan Street subway station
Encyclopedia : B : BU : BUC : Buchanan Street subway station
Buchanan Street subway station is a station on the Glasgow Subway in Glasgow, Scotland. It serves Buchanan Street, which is popular with shoppers. This, combined with the proximity to Buchanan bus station and Glasgow Queen Street station, make it one of the three busiest stations on the network. When originally built in 1896, the station had a single island platform serving both tracks. An additional platform was added as part of the 1977-1980 modernisation scheme. Part of carriage 41 (from the Subway's pre-1977 rolling stock) is preserved within the station.
