Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the second video game based on Buffy franchise to be released, though the earliest in terms of setting and the first for a console.

Story

Set in the third season between "Revelations" and "Lover's Walk". The Master, being resurrected in a phantom form, is searching for a body to possess.

Levels

There are 13 levels in the game. Spanish Mission, Sunnydale High, The Library, The Sunken Church, The Bronze, Sunnydale Cemetery, The Mausoleum, The Mansion, The Docks, The Foundry and The Dreamer's Realm.

Characters

Buffy, Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Giles, Spike and Angel.

Enemies

Vampires, Hell Hounds, Zombies, Spiders, Hanock Demons, Malik, Scylla, The Necromancer, Spike, Angelus, The Dreamers: Urd, Skuld and Verdandi, The Master.

Voice Cast

Goofs

When you are in a gang meeting inside the library, turn right get up the little stairs then look into the wall pressing the L-Shoulder button, you will see a diploma with a "Whatever" title on it.
It is possible to kill the tough vampire in the bronze level, depleting his life and staking him in the ground. However, when the player tries to escape, the big vampire is alive again.

Trivia

This project started as a PlayStation game, but development was moved to the the Xbox.[link] It was planned to be ported to Windows, but those plans were scrapped [link], leaving it an Xbox exclusive.
Enter the code in the Extra Menu and Play in Arena #2. When you fight with Possessed Angel. Buffy will say lines referring to The Master. However, Angel is the one actually talking to her.
While Buffy the Vampire Slayer was advertised as a single-player game, it has a hidden multiplayer mode, apparently for debugging purposes. [link]
Fight with Scylla in Arena #4 and when you are about to kill her throw a Hellfire at her and she will NOT DIE, instead she will be dusting slowly (Like Spike in Chosen), she will still fight, to kill her stake her... she will die after 5 seconds.
Buffy cannot swim in this game. She dies instantly if she falls.
