Bunk
Encyclopedia : B : BU : BUN : Bunk
A bunk is a bed or other place for sleeping, particularly a narrow bed built like a shelf into or against a wall, as in a ship's cabin, or several like beds stacked over one another known as a bunkbed. These enable people to sleep in a high density fashion, using minimal floor space.
Derived from this the verb "to bunk" carries the connotations of sleeping or having sex.
Bunk can also be used as a slang adjective as a shortened version of bunkum. It is common in the United States. A typical usage would be "That class was totally bunk." (See Buncombe County, North Carolina).
Bunk is also a term used in the lumber industry to describe 128 boards of a given length. Example: "I need a bunk of 2x4's".
