CBAF-FM
Encyclopedia : C : CB : CBA : CBAF-FM
CBAF is a Canadian radio station. It is the La Première Chaîne affiliate in Moncton, New Brunswick, and rebroadcasts throughout Atlantic Canada.
The station was launched in 1954 on AM 1300. In 1980, the station was granted a rebroadcaster on FM 88.5, to offset AM radio reception problems in the Moncton area. The CBC operated both transmitters until 1988, when the AM transmitter was discontinued and the FM transmitter became the station's primary frequency.
Rebroadcasters
Although some local programming is distinct from province to province, all Première Chaîne transmitters in the four Atlantic provinces are legally licensed as rebroadcasters of CBAF, except for two in Labrador which rebroadcast the programming of CBSI from Sept-Îles, Quebec.
