CFGS-TV
Encyclopedia : C : CF : CFG : CFGS-TV
CFGS is a television station. It is the TQS affiliate in Gatineau, Quebec, and also serves franco-ontarians in the neighbouring city of Ottawa, Ontario.
CFGS, owned by Radio-Nord as a twinstick with CHOT, broadcasts on channel 34. The station first broadcasted on channel 14 until the early-1990s, when it moved to channel 49. It moved to its current position, ch.34, in 2001. However, both TV Guide (prior to changing its listings to national listings only) and TV Hebdo still has this station listed today as ch.49.
However, CFGS is a considerbly smaller station as opposed to CHOT -- there is only a 10-minute local newscasts on weekdays at 5:30PM with brief news updates in the morning and in the evening. There are only two anchors (one for the morning news update and one for the 5:30PM news) and one reporter. Also, since early February 2006, there is an occasional commentary by former MP Francoise Boivin, who comments on some stories that made headlines.
