History
The station was established on October 25th 1954 at 3:00PM with an ERP of 27,400 watts by Sunwapta Broadcasting as a CBC affiliate. On October 1, 1961, the CBC established CBXT in the city, and CFRN became one of the original CTV affiliates. In 1988, the station was acquired by Electrohome, whose broadcast assets were subsequently bought out by Baton Broadcasting in 1996.
