-->CFR Cluj is a Romanian football club that is currently playing in the top Romanian league, Divizia A, and which finished 11th in the 2004/2005 season.
Founded in 1907, its initial name was KVSC (Koloszvári Vasutas Sport Club), it was the team of the railroad workers of Cluj and it played in the Austro-Hungarian championship. After WWI and the abolition of the Austro-Hungarian empire it moved to the Romanian championship.
The team is coached by the Romanian international Dorinel Munteanu, who is also a player for the team.
Recently, the club received much attention, both in Romania and abroad, for their excellent campaign in the Intertoto Cup in 2005, in which they managed to reach the final (the first Romanian club to ever accomplish such a feat), in the process knocking out famous teams such as Athletic Bilbao and Saint Etienne.
They lost the final to RC Lens, a team from France.
The ultras groups of CFR Cluj are called 'Commando Gruia' and 'KVSC'.
CFR Cluj finished 5th in the 2005/2006 season, tying its best performance in 1972/1973. Currently the team is in Austria where CFR will play several friendly matches:
Dynamo Kiev - CFR Cluj 3-2
Hearts - CFR Cluj 1-1
SV Parsching - CFR Cluj 2-4
