The US Navy's CXAM radar was the first radar system to be deployed by the United States. It was able to detect aircraft at up to 100 miles, and was initially deployed on the Navy's battleships and aircraft carriers, and later on smaller ships as well. It was also provided the impetus for the US Army's own developments, the SCR-268 and SCR-270.
