Caamas Document

The Caamas Document refers to a document in the fictional Star Wars universe which nearly launched the New Republic into a civil war. During the reign of the Emperor, the home planet of the peaceful Caamasi was destroyed by the Empire. Fourteen years after his fall, a datacard stating that a group of Bothans had helped in the destruction was discovered. Unfortunately, the datacard was too dirty too read the names so the entire Bothan race was suspect.

Several alien species who had harbored dissent against their neighbors used this as an oppertunity to start a war. Some factions joined the side of the Bothans launching their opponents in with the Caamasi (who wanted absolutely nothing to do with the revenge on the Bothans). An enormous fleet massed over Bothawui and Imperial induced riots broke out.

The New Republic attempted many solutions to the situation. Unable to find anything in their own archives, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian were sent to Bastion to get its copy. Finding nothing, they were given a fake copy by Flim and Moff Disra. Another attempt was made by Talon Karrde and Shada D'ukal to seek out Kardde's former employer and search his records. That too proved unsuccessful, but it did help them stop the Imperial impersonation of Thrawn. Another unsuccessful attenpt was the invasion of Yaga Minor. Finally, the information was recovered from the Hand of Thrawn on Niraun by Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade.
