Cabinet (furniture)

Encyclopedia : C : CA : CAB : Cabinet (furniture)

A cabinet is a usually oblong piece of furniture, often attached to a wall and made of wood, used throughout the world for the storage of clothes or other miscellaneous items. Modern cabinets when referring to clothes storage are called wardrobes. In the original english a wardrobe was referred to as an oakley because of the type of wood used to make them. Cabinets usually have one or a pair of doors on the front, occasionally with a lock; they may also contain drawers.

Cabinets may include their own top surface or be topped by an external countertop, especially in kitchens.
