Cabot Tower (Bristol)

Encyclopedia : C : CA : CAB : Cabot Tower (Bristol)

Cabot Tower is a tower in Bristol, United Kingdom, situated in a public park on Brandon Hill, between the city centre, Clifton and Hotwells. It was built in 1897 in memory of John Cabot, 400 years after he set sail from Bristol and landed in what was later to become Canada. It consists of a spiral staircase and two viewing platforms which overlook the city. The tower is open to the public seven days a week and entry is free. The tower gives its name to the area and Council ward of Cabot.
