Caiga Quien Caiga, mostly known as CQC, is a television show originated in Argentina, it also broadcast in Chile, Spain and Italy under the format of the production company Cuatro Cabezas led by Mario Pergolini.

Review

CQC is a weekly news roundup that takes a humorous and Irony approach to reporting current affairs, show business and sports. A program that laughs at reality and takes information to limits beyond what is expected. Each week, direct and live from the studio, a trio of hosts presents the most original stories to show reality in a very distinct way to the everyday newscasts we are used to. Its reporters - those in charge of going out on the street - are willing to do anything to get a surprising story. They are not afraid of anybody, not politicians, presidents or film stars. They always ask the least convenient and most uncomfortable questions, provoking unexpected and funny reactions from celebrities. Know by its fans as CQC, the program gained fame for its unstructured and original way of interviewing, asking what other media would never ask. From this conception comes the name Caiga Quien Caiga, a phrase than in Spanish reflects the spirit of the program: to do something without caring about the rank of those who suffer the consequences. From its start, CQC has been a success and a primary reference in Argentine television, and later in Spain, Italy, France, Israel and Chile.

The hosts and reporters all dress in black suits and wear black glasses, style copied from the Quentin Tarantino’s movie Reservoir Dogs.

The reporters usually give away the CQC sunglasses to the person being interviewed, which may be considered an honor.

The Argentine edition of CQC is hosted by Mario Pergolini, Eduardo de la Puente and Juan di Natale.

It started broadcasting in Canal 2 (currently known as América TV), in the year 1995. This first stage ended in 1999, with a special show transmited from the Gran Rex Theatre in Buenos Aires. In the year 2001, there was a special edition show (made in the same theatre) to announce the new season of the program for the next year, this time in Canal 13. In 2005, Canal 13 hired Marcelo Tinelli, who is frequently argumented in the program and has been a long time rival of Mario Pergolini. This made CQC (and all of the programs produced by Cuatro Cabezas) shift channel again, and sign a contract with Telefé. The show is currently being transmited in this channel every Wednesday at 11:00 pm.

The journalist cast in Canal 2 were Clemente Cancela, Andy Kusnetzoff, Guillermo López, Daniel Malnatti, Gonzalo Rodríguez and Daniel Tognetti. The cast in Canal 13 were Clemente Cancela, Diego Della Salla, Guillermo López, Daniel Malnatti and Gonzalo Rodríguez.

Chile

The Chilean edition started broadcasting in 2002, it is currently transmitting in Mega on Sundays at 10:00 pm. The hosts are Nicolás Larrain, Gonzalo Feito and Iván Guerrero. With the journalist cast of Sebastian Eyzaguirre, Fernando Lasalvia and Pamela Le Roy, also having the hosts Feito and Guerrero making interviews. They also had Marcelo Arismendi as a reporter, and Felipe Bianchi and Pablo Mackenna as hosts. Having the show in a christian channel, they are restricted in talking with people relating to the church. The program is produced with support of the chilean production company Edu, who also own channels such as Via X.

Spain

The program is transmitted by Telecinco (Madrid) since 1996 (except in 2003 and 2004 for having the show cancelled). It is produced by GloboMedia.

In their first stage, the show was hosted by El Gran Wyoming. From the cast of reporters, some of them already had a television reputation such as Pablo Carbonell, while for the rest, they started their television careers in CQC which include Javier Martin and Arturo Valls. Regardless of maintaining a high rating and the numerous awards given to the program and its presenter, Telecinco decided to cancel the show at the end of 2002, due to criticism made by the show about the government’s party, Jose Maria Aznar’s wife and Telecinco’s owner Silvio Berlusconi.

In 2005 the program returned to Telecinco, this time hosted by Manel Fuentes, Arturo Valls, Eduardo Aldán and Deborah Ombres as the first woman in the cast. The good result of rating made the show renew their contracts with the channel and it is currently on their second season, hosted by Arturo Valls, Manel Fuentes and Juan Ramón Bonet with the reporter cast of Toni Garrido, Fernando González and Christian Gálvez, having also Arturo Valls as reporter.
