Cal-Animage Alpha (CAA) is a Japanese animation club, in the United States. Cal-Animage Alpha was founded in 1989 by Mike Tatsugawa (who would later go on to head the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation which hosts Anime Expo) and a small group of friends. It is a student-run organization located at University of California, Berkeley which meets weekly during the school year to show and promote anime.
To celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2004, CAA organized its own one-day anime convention on UC Berkeley Campus, Anime Destiny. Following its initial success, it was held again in 2005.
Some officers and alumni remain active in the anime and manga industry and fandom to this day.
