Calm Air is an airline based in Thompson, Manitoba, Canada. It operates services in northern Manitoba and the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. Charter and freight services are also undertaken. Its main base is Thompson Airport (YTH).

Code Data

History

The airline was established and started operations in 1962. It was founded by its Chief Executive, Arnold Morberg, and his wife, as a charter service in northern Saskatchewan. In 1976 it took over the Transair passenger service in the Nunavut. In 1981, Calm Air took over many of the passenger and cargo routes of Lamb Air. Canadian Airlines acquired a 45% holding in Calm Air in 1987.

Calm Air operates services to the following domestic scheduled destinations (as of January 2005): Arviat, Baker Lake, Chesterfield Inlet, Churchill, Coral Harbour, Flin Flon, Gillam, Lynn Lake, Pukatawagan, Rankin Inlet, Repules Bay, Shamattawa, South Indian Lake, Tadoule Lake, The Pas, Thompson, Whale Cove and Winnipeg.
