Campsie railway station, Sydney

Encyclopedia : C : CA : CAM : Campsie railway station, Sydney

Campsie railway station is a station on the Bankstown line, located in the Sydney suburb of Campsie. It is a heavily patronised station which is usually served by four trains per hour in each direction. Campsie station is located in a shallow cutting. Immediately to the east of the station, a road bridge carries the suburb's main shopping street, Beamish St, over the line. The station has two side platforms for passenger services, whilst directly behind the northern platform there are two busy freight tracks. In the early 2000s the old wooden ticket office structure over the line at street level was demolished and replaced with a new metal and glass construction. Elevators are provided to both platforms, giving the station easy access for wheelchairs.
