Caroline the car is a fictional small old car who belongs to the Elsbridge Cricket Team on the Island of Sodor. We first met her when she had to chase Stepney after he chuffed away with the cricketeers' ball, which landed in one of his trucks. Caroline didn't like that at all, because she has a sensitive engine, which will easily overheat or break down when she exceeds her usual speed. She prefers nice country runs at around 20mph, and is happy to still be running, after George the Steamroller said she should be scrapped. But she still gets by the day with a smile on her radiator, happy to know she is useful.

Caroline has been said to be based on a 1925 "bull nosed" morris, but on the back of her ERTL Collector card, it says she is loosely based on a 2 door saloon car. She is also one of only two Thomas characters with headlights for eyes, the other being Angus the fire engine ([See Photo])

Caroline has only featured in 2 stories, but has made cameos in many others in the earlier seasons.

She was introduced in the Railway Series story 'Train Stops Play', and had the number plate 'URA 1', which is something of a comedy catchphrase.
