Cartel was the first Turkish rap group. They are extremely popular in Turkey, Germany and Austria.

Cartel contained three separate hiphop artists; Erci E, Karakan and Da Crime Posse. In 1995, they recorded their self-titled album. One year later, they split up. They were famous by using traditional Turkish musical instruments in rap. In 1998, Cartel made a single with German musician Peter Maffay, but from the old team just Erci E was in the group.
