Encyclopedia : C : CE : CEN : Centralwings

Centralwings is a low-cost airline based in Łódź, Poland. It is a low-fare division of LOT Polish Airlines. The airline notably stands out as being the only budget airline to fly out of Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport's main terminal, its main base, sharing gates with LOT. It also has hubs at Katowice International Airport and John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice. The airline slogan is: Pay less, expect more.

History

The airline was established in December 2004 and started operations in February 2005. The airline is in partnership with Lufthansa and its budget subsidiary germanwings. Both "wings" share mile programs and scheduling, however, they are both independently owned from each other. Centralwings, as its name suggests, competes in the Central European market, namely Poland, with a fleet of LOT Boeing 737 aircraft.
