-->Rosalino Félix Sánchez, known as Chalino (born August 30, 1960 in El Guayabo, Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico died May 16, 1992), was a Mexican singer. Many of his songs are norteño corridos. His music included stories about drug trafficking, murders and crooked police officials, as well as the struggles of working-class Mexicans.
Born and raised in Sinaloa, Chalino moved to Los Angeles, California in 1977. In 1984, he married Marisela Vallejo. He began his brief recording career in 1989 when he joined los 4 De la Frontera. He recorded corridos on commission and sang in local clubs. On January 2, 1992, he was shot during a live performance in a small club near Palm Springs, after which his music began to be noticed more broadly. On May 15, 1992, he performed in Culiacan, Sinaloa; the next morning his body was found outside of town with two bullets in his head. Although rumors circulated about reasons for his murder, there are no leads or suspects.
After his death, his reputation as a folk hero grew and music rose in popularity, with many complilation albums being released.
