Charles Henry Dow (November 6, 1851 – December 4, 1902) was an American journalist who co-founded Dow Jones & Company and The Wall Street Journal, which became the most respected financial publication in the world.
Born in Sterling, Connecticut, Dow never finished high school. He saw the need for an index to probe the New York Stock Exchange activity. He also put together the Dow Theory. Despite the fact that Dow's theories were developed over a hundred years ago, they still remain true today.
Dow died in Brooklyn, New York.
