Charles "Chuck" Lane is a journalist who is currently a staff writer for the Washington Post. Lane was the lead editor of The New Republic from 1997 to 1999. When the Stephen Glass scandal broke in 1998, Lane fired Glass and accepted responsibility for printing Glass's fabricated stories. In the movie Shattered Glass, Lane was portrayed by actor Peter Sarsgaard.
Lane covers the Supreme Court for the Washington Post and also teaches a course in journalistic fraud at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
