[] at NFL.com Charles Roberts, nicknamed Blink, is a 5'6", 171 pound running back out of Sacramento State University, where he was a shining star on a beleaguered football team. Upon graduation, he found his way to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to play for the Canadian Football League team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In his 5-year tenure to date, he has experienced highs and lows. The enigmatic back has missed team flights, led the league in all-purpose yards, pondered retirement, led the league in rushing yards, publicly criticized some decisions, and signed a long-term big money deal to remain as the face of the Bombers. When the Blue Bombers signed troubled former NFL running back Onterrio Smith Roberts started up more controversy by demanding to be traded, refusing to share the backfield with Smith. It was all for naught though, as Smith was soon cut from the team, cementing Roberts as the feature back.
Through the 2005 season, Roberts has rushed for 6,482 yards in just five seasons with the Blue Bombers. He has also tallied up 2,321 receiving yards and 47 touchdowns in his professional career so far.
In 2005 Roberts was selected one of the 20 All-Time Blue Bomber Greats.
