Charles Robinson is a high level operative and possibly M's right hand man in the James Bond films Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. He is portrayed by actor Colin Salmon.
Biography
Charles Robinson often appears alongside M when Bond is being briefed or given information. In the pre-title sequence of Tomorrow Never Dies, Robinson gives orders to Bond from a communications centre while Bond is undertaking a mission on the Russian border. He is seen again in the meeting between M and Admiral Roebuck talking about the sinking of HMS Devonshire; later Robinson assists M in briefing Bond in the car scene.
In the events of The World Is Not Enough, Robinson takes M to Turkey after Elektra King asks her to be there, not knowing it was a trap.
Robinson is not given a big role in Die Another Day but is seen in a vitual reality simulation in which he helps Bond to save M when the SIS Building is infiltrated, Robinson is shot and injured in the simulation. He is seen later in the film, in the briefing between Bond and Jinx.
Trivia
Robinson was left out of the new instalment, Casino Royale (2006), probably because it is set before Dr. No. Despite this, Judi Dench has been re-cast as M and Bond continues to equip himself with the Walther P99 that he has been using since Tomorrow Never Dies when it could be argued that he should be using the Walther PPK or Beretta as he did in the book.
