Cheaper by the Dozen 2 is a film produced by 20th Century Fox and released in 2005 (see 2005 in film). It is the sequel to the family comedy film Cheaper by the Dozen (2003).
Shawn Levy, the director of the first film, did not return for this sequel, which was instead directed by Adam Shankman (The Pacifier). However, he is a producer of the film and he appears as a hospital intern in the movie. Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, Piper Perabo, and Tom Welling reprise their roles as members of the twelve-child Baker family. Eugene Levy co-stars as the patriarch of a rival family of eight children. Carmen Electra has a brief role as Levy's trophy wife.
The film did not follow the storyline of the novel Belles on Their Toes, which was a sequel book to the original Cheaper by the Dozen novel. Both were written by Frank Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. (Belles on Their Toes was made into a film in 1952 as a follow-up to the 1950 film version of Cheaper by the Dozen.)
Filming in Toronto began on June 13 2005, and was scheduled to finish on September 2 2005. [link] The July 2005 issue of People Magazine had the first picture preview of the film.
At the 2005 Golden Raspberry Awards, Hilary Duff was nominated in the Worst Actress category and Eugene Levy in the Worst Supporting Actor category. However, they lost to Jenny McCarthy and Hayden Christensen, respectively.
