Chemistry education is an active area of research within both the disciplines of chemistry and education. The main focus of research is on learning and teaching of chemistry in schools, colleges and universities. The practice of chemical education is teaching chemistry to students and the training of teachers to teach chemistry. The research aspect deals with how to teach and how to improve learning outcomes.
Chemistry education has many aproaches;
- Direct presentation of information (i.e. Classroom Teaching).
- A tactile, hands-on approach, such as laboratory experiments.
- Demonstrations.
Journals of Chemical Education
There are many journals of chemical education, although most have a limited circulation in one country. Some concentrate on chemistry at different education levels (schools vs. universities) while others cover all education levels. Some of the most prominent are:
- Published by the Royal Society of Chemistry with an emphasis on University education.
