Chen Ding-nan

Chen Ding-Nan (b. 29 September 1943) (陳定南), a politician in Taiwan, served as Minister of Justice in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration from 2000 to 2005.

In late 2005 he tried unsuccessfully to win the post of Yilan County magistrate, a position he previously held from 1981 to 1989. He was elected to that post, and later as a lawmaker, as a non-party independent.

Chen joined the DPP in 1993 in order to contest the Taiwan gubernatorial election of the following year. He came second in that race, behind James Soong.

He graduated from the Law Department of National Taiwan University.

In April 2006, it was reported that Chen had been hospitalized, suffering from lung cancer.
