CHERUB is a series of children's books by Robert Muchamore about a group of kids who attend the CHERUB campus to be trained as secret agents. The organisation is a children's branch of the British security service, based on the fact that no criminal would suspect a child of spying on them.

Series

Main character James Adams goes through turmoil as while he is in a foster home he is spotted and recruited by the spy organisation, CHERUB. He learns about CHERUB and goes through a harsh program of basic training and his first mission. The Recruit was [2005 winner of the Red House Book Award]. James is sent on a mission to stop a drug dealer and to succeed he becomes friends with drug dealers and deals in drugs himself. He comes close to trying them. James becomes an inmate of a high security prison, but finds that his mission becomes a little more complicated than he thought it would be when his accomplice Dave is injured in a fight and can't carry on with the mission. Somehow, a small time crook managed to get his hands on a fortune. MI5 needs to know how.

When CHERUB discovers a link between terrorist group Help Earth and a wealthy religious cult called the Survivors, the authorities are desperate to know why. Every day thousands of animals die in laboratory experiments. Some say these experiments provide essential scientific knowledge, while others commit violent acts in order to stop them. James and Lauren Adams are stuck in the middle.... ' (Scheduled to be published October 2006, U.K release October 19th)

His punishments are half severe or half good, depending on optimism or pessimism (see Is the glass half empty or half full?. Before James does basic training he bunks off the campus and got no punishment but Kyle and Bruce got intp serious trouble.
