Chex Mix is a salty snack sold by General Mills, based on its Chex line of breakfast cereals. There are several varieties, including Traditional, Hot and Spicy, Cheddar, and Caramel Crunch. Recently, two varieties of a new brand called Chocolate Chex Mix were added. One is a peanut butter mix, the other is a Turtle mix, containing caramel pieces.
Homemade Chex Mix is considered a holiday season party staple in many American homes. The recipe is printed on the packaging of Chex breakfast cereals. The dominant seasoning in these recipes is often Worcestershire sauce, but the commercial Traditional mix does not contain it.
The Traditional mix contains:
- Corn Chex
- Wheat Chex
- Round Pretzels
- Windowpane Pretzels
- Bagel Chips
- Rye Chips
- Bread twists

The recommended serving of Traditional Chex Mix, 30g, contains 130 calories and 4 grams of fat, as well as 22 grams of carbohydrates and one gram of dietary fiber. Chex Mix is not a significant source of vitamins, calcium, or protein. It also provides 380 milligrams of sodium, so Chex Mix is not a particularly good choice for those on a low-sodium diet.Traditional Chex Mix contains dairy ingredients, so it is not suitable for a vegan diet.
