Chiado Museum

The Chiado Museum, in Lisbon, is the National Contemporary Art Museum of Portugal. It was created in 1911 and inaugurated, in the new installations, in 1994. It reunites artistical works, mostly from Portugal, from the period from 1850 to 1950. It holds the best collections of Portuguese painting and sculpture from the romantic, naturalist and modern periods. However, its collection of 20th century painting seems not so rich and variate as those from the 19th century. It also doesn't have many works from great foreign artists.
