Chosokabe clan

The were respected as deputy administrators of the Tosa in the 12th Century. During the 16th century of the Sengoku period, the Chosokabe acted as vassals under the Ichijo clan, in which were based at the western region of Tosa. By the year of 1584, Chosokabe Motochikasucceeded in taking all of Shikoku, but when the latter invaded the island the following year, Motochika had no choice but to submit to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Following the Battle of Sekigahara during the year of 1600, the Chosokabe ended up losing their land to that of the Uesugi (Uesugi Kagekatsu as the head of that time).
