Christie Monteiro is a character in the Tekken series of video games. She is the granddaughter of Eddy Gordo's master and Eddy's suggested romantic interest. She has replaced him as the prominently-featured capoeira user in the series. Yet, with the release of , Eddy has been reintroduced to the canonical series as a non-palette swap character for the first time since Tekken 3.

Story

While Eddy Gordo was in prison, he was taught the art of Capoeira by a great master. During his incarceration, he made a promise to find the master's granddaughter, Christie Monteiro, and pass Capoeira on to her.

After the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Eddy finds Christie and teaches her Capoeira. After merely two years of training, Christie has become quite an impressive fighter. However, one day Eddy leaves to seek vengeance on the person responsible for his father's death. Christie is troubled by his sudden and mysterious disappearance. She decides to chase after him, following her only lead and entering the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 in order to find him.

Christie's grandfather, a great Capoeira master, was released from prison after a long incarceration. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with an incurable illness and was given only six months to live.

Several days later, Christie learns of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. She sees it as a chance to save her grandfather, believing that if she posesses the advanced technology of the Mishima Zaibatsu she may be able to find a cure.

Game Endings

Tekken 4

Christie has beat Heihachi and won the tournament and is swarmed with excited journalists, but she she is very melacholy. Then, suddly in the audience she sees Eddy Gordo, with a sling on his arm. Gleefully she runs up to him and gives him a hug saying, "Eddy!".

Tekken 5

Christie and Eddy are waiting anxiously while Christie's grandfather undergoes his operation. Finally, the "Operating" light goes off and the doors open. The scene changes, and Eddy and Christie are outside in the sunlight sparring, when her grandfather steps in. It is clear that his operation has gone well, and Eddy steps aside and Christie and her grandfather begin sparring.

Popularity

Due to her attractive design, Christie has quite a substantial fanbase. She is considered to be an excellent addition to the cast, adding sex appeal to the series as well as light-heartedness to a largely-somber cast.

Criticism of Gameplay

Many fans dislike Eddy and Christie's moves set. A common complaint is that it rewards button mashing players too richly. Regardless, most expert-level players do not regard the characters as cheap.

In addition to this, when Christie made her debut in Tekken 4, she didn't inherit Eddy's moves completely, many moves that were highly effective in Tekken 3 were toned down and made slower or less powerful.

• In Tekken 5, Christie Monteiro is voiced by [Lisle Wilkerson], who also does Nina Williams' voice.

• According to Namco Christie Monteiro's look is based from the former supermodel, Tyra Banks .
